Board Seat Election Information
The Villages of Northgate Crossing has five seats that comprise the board. Board seats are by homeowner election except when an elected board member resigns in the middle of a term and that board member replacement is by election of the remaining board members. When a board seat is open for election, by-laws require that all members of the community (or owners of the property) be mailed a notice of the election 15 or more days prior to the election taking place.
Q: Who may vote in an election to appoint board members?
A: Any home owner may cast one
vote per household. Deed restriction violations or outstanding assn
dues/fees do not exclude a homeowner from voting (under new Texas laws.)
Q: How can I get my name on the ballot to seek election to
the board?
A: All elections take place during the annual meeting which is
typically held in March or April of each year. You can
contact the
association and they can provide you with a form on which you can record your
information that will be distributed to all homeowners. Optionally, you
can run as a write-in candidate.
Q: Can I collect votes for myself from homeowners
directly?
A: Yes, you can have the homeowner that has not already
submitted a vote, cast the vote for you by door-to-door campaigning. You
can campaign in all four villages as board members are not elected on a
per-village basis. The majority of board members are elected through
door-to-door campaigning efforts.
Q: What are the requirements to run for election
on the board?
A: Anyone can
run for a membership on the board - you do not have to be a member of the assn
or own property.
