Security Information
One of the most common issues and the one that generates the most questions to the board is about security. The information provided here will hopefully answer some of your questions about security in the Villages of Northgate Crossing.
Q:
How can I get a list of crimes that have occurred
around my house?
A: Pct 4 constables post their
reported crimes to the website:
www.crimereports.com
Q:
Who provides the security / patrol of the association?
A: Policing of association properties is provided by
Harris County Constable
Precinct 4.
Q: Who pays for the Harris County Constable?
A: The Constable is paid for by the MUD district, not by
the homeowners association.
The contract with Harris County and the MUD is for 80% of the time of one
officer for both MUD 1 and MUD 2 (Northgate is in MUD 2). MUD 1 property
is primarily located to the north of the Hardy Toll road (see
the MUD map here.) MUD 2 is located from the Hardy Toll road (near the
school) down to Spring Stuebner Rd, bounded to the west by I-45. The
Villages of Northgate Association does not have any direct control over the
Constable assigned to patrol these two MUD districts though we do maintain a
relationship with the constables to ensure our residents needs are properly
addressed.
Q: Has the association considered hiring a private
security company to patrol the neighborhood?
A: The crime levels within Villages of Northgate Crossing
are average to below average with comparative neighborhoods of our size within
far north Houston. The majority of the incidents requiring police presence
within Northgate Crossing involve false alarms, domestic disturbances and
juvenile mischief which most often involve residents within the community
itself. The rate of motor burglary, thief of motor vehicle and home
burglary are low and can often be prevented by proper attention of the
homeowner. As a result, current patrol levels are adequate.
Q: I have not seen the constable patrolling my neighborhood
in awhile - where are they?
A: The constables assigned to patrol are not within the
neighborhood at all times. When backup or other surrounding communities
need assistance, the constable may leave to handle that issue. Also be
aware that MUD 1 and MUD 2 are much larger than just our neighborhood - Villages
of Northgate Crossing comprises less than half of the entire patrol area. The
patrols also are spread out over days and nights - so you may sometimes see a
constable at night or sometimes during the day, when you may not be home.
Q: We have had some security issues on my street - can I get
extra patrols by the constable?
A: Yes - by visiting the
Precinct 4 website you can request an additional patrol. Select "THE
VILLAGES OF NORTHGATE CROSSING" from the community listing.
Q: Drivers keep running the stop sign in front of my house -
where can I report this issue?
A:
You can report problem traffic issues on the
Precinct 4 website.
Q: I am having issues with a local constable - who can I
contact to resolve this issue?
A:
Villages of Northgate Crossing is part of the East Patrol
District of Precinct 4. You can find the district lieutenant on the
Precinct 4 website.
Q: I had a theft/vandalism/break-in of my
vehicle while it was parked in my driveway/street.
A:
Please park your vehicle in your garage or other secured
area. Nearly all of these events involving vehicles are those outside of
their intended parking locations (in a garage.)
